Our Nurses

We are very proud of the fact that all our nurses are Registered Veterinary Nurses which means they have undertaken several years of training, gained NVQ level 2 and 3 and are registered with the Royal College. Their work is very varied and includes care of inpatients, setting up intravenous fluids, taking blood, bandaging, carrying out nurse consultations and clinics, and giving pet care advice, among many other tasks.

I am part of the furniture at Argyll as I'm the longest serving member of staff (I've been here since 1996!!) In my time here I have seen the veterinary nursing profession go from strength to strength. My special interests are theatre nursing & nurse clinics. I'm a bit of a 'catwoman' at the moment as I have 3 cats (Tyson, Marlie & Lemy), I would love a dog but currently do not have enough time. I love going to the gym, try to go twice a week but that doesn't always happen! I enjoy socialising which leads me to my next passion, Liverpool F.C. I have not managed to get to Anfield yet but it's on my to do list.

Alex works mainly at our Ilfracombe branch and has been with us since 1997, when the Ilfracombe surgery first opened. She relaxes by walking her dog, Ollie, pictured (although walking him is not always the most relaxing pastime, as he is very naughty!) She also enjoys sea-kayaking.

Hayley is a Registered Veterinary Nurse who has also been with us for many years. She relaxes by running and going to the gym. Her ambition is to run the London Marathon, although that has had to be put back for a little while due to the arrival of twin boys in 2011!

I joined the practice in 2002, and qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2007. I enjoy every part of my nursing role. I have a main role in Ilfracombe in stock control and ordering, among other things. I also enjoy the hands-on care and getting to know the patients individually. I own two horses 'Louis’ and ‘Woody', and compete with both horses at affiliated dressage, recently representing England at the Home international where the team were second. I enjoy all outdoor activities including walking and cycling. My partner and I have recently bought a house, which we share with our Border terrier, Gracie.

I'm Head Nurse at the Roundswell branch. I've been nursing for 16 years and qualified in 1999. I moved to Devon from Gloucester to help open the Roundswell surgery in Feb 2005 and the rest is history... I have 3 dogs and 2 cats and a husband who is very patient about me bringing home waifs and strays!

 ckCerys Kingdom

Cerys has been part of the Argyll team since 2006. She currently works part-time, which gives her some time off from her young twins!

Sam Sam Forster

Sam joined us in July 2010. She has been a qualified veterinary nurse for over 10 years so brings with her a vast amount of experience, as well as a well-developed ability to multi-task due to having 3 children and a dog!

Katie_BKatie Balman

Katie joined us in February 2011. Or rather she re-joined us, having spent some time with us in 2003 doing work experience! Between then and now she has become a qualified RVN with experience of all aspects of veterinary practice. In her spare time she looks after her menagerie, including the 3-legged cat  she took home from Argyll when seeing practice all those years ago!

LisaLisa Walters

Lisa joined us in October 2011. She has a degree in Veterinary Nursing from Bristol University, and has worked as a RVN in Glastonbury for 3 years prior to joining us. She is a very good dancer in her spare time.
