The puppies are here!

Our little fostered dog has got a name now - Pepper - thanks to the 5 year old daughter of Kathrine, one of our vets. She also has 2 puppies which arrived last night with no problem at all. I told the children yesterday that last night was likely to be the night (bitches always seem to do it at night, makes sense from an evolutionary viewpoint I guess). She was in and out of her box and scratching up the bedding, and went off her food after half a meal - which isn't like her - having established that she will only eat pouches of food and would starve rather than try anything else, she is actually a good eater.

At 1.30am she was still scratching around, and when I next got up at 3am she had finished. Since then she has refused to leave the nest, but is happy to be handfed in situ!

I'll post a photo when I can take one without terrifying her, though with them all being black it's a bit difficult to tell where mum finishes and pups start!
