Myxomatosis is back

I saw my first myxomatosis rabbit of the year yesterday [28th June]. There are so many wild rabbits around at the moment, it was bound to happen. The disease is carried by insects, so there doesn't need to be any direct contact between wild rabbits and pets for transmission to occur. It is such a horrible disease, we are reminding people to get their pet rabbits vaccinated if they haven't been done in the last 6 months. Give the surgery a call if you are in any doubt - it is a very sad sight to see an animal suffering from such a preventable disease.
